How to select  the heat shrink tubing？

 1. Selection of Specifications

Generally speaking, select a tubing with an expanded inner diameter about 70% matching the diameter of the component to be protected.

For example, if you have a 29 mm cylindrical part, choose heat shrink tubing with an expanded inner diameter of 29 mm before heating.

Note: For sizes larger than 40 mm, the recommended value is adjusted to 60%.

2. Air Insulation Clearance Design after Application on Bus Duct

The specific dimension shall comply with the full specification in *Bus Duct Fabrication and Installation*.

For 2.35kV application, the air insulation clearance at the end after heat shrinkage shall be greater than 220 mm. This parameter must be strictly observed and cannot be used as the only reference.

3. Key Precautions for Heat Shrink Tubing on Bus Duct

1. Watch out for burrs and sharp corners on the bus duct. These may pierce or crack PVC heat shrink tubing during thermal shrinking.

2. Clean the connecting parts thoroughly with quick-drying cleaner before use. Heating can only start after cleaning.

3. Keep cutting edges neat and smooth. No burrs or cracks are allowed. Otherwise, uneven heating may cause crack propagation.

4. Multiple heating tools are available: constant-temperature oven, propane torch, liquefied gas flame, gasoline burner, etc.

5. If using an industrial hot air blower: start heating from one end, then move evenly toward the other end to achieve uniform shrinkage.

If using a heat gun: control temperature between 400℃ and 600℃. Maintain a distance of 4–5 cm between the flame/nozzle and the tubing. Move steadily while heating. Do not hold the heat source too close or focus heating on a single spot.
